9 Reasons to Love Hugh Jackman (If You Don't Already)

  • A talented singer, Hugh sang at his friend Nicole Kidman’s wedding to Keith Urban. And we all remember his powerful baritone in Les Miserables. Only he could sing his way through such an intense movie and still do justice to the sombre mood of the life of the convict Jean Valjean.

  • Along with singing, Hugh can also play the piano, guitar, and violin. In short, he is a musician in addition to all the acting skills and charm he possesses.

  • Including his cameo in X-Men: First Class (2011),  Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine 7 times which raised his own record for the most times a comic book character has been played by the same actor in theatrical films. He is also the only actor to appear in the entire X-Men film series. The record is set to be higher after his upcoming movies X Men – Apocalypse and Logan making it a total of 9 times.

  • Hugh Jackman took ice cold showers every morning of filming in order to help get into character of Wolverine. This tradition started when jumping into the shower at 5 AM before realizing there was no hot water. Shocked awake but not wanting to wake his sleeping wife, he grit teeth and bore it, before realizing that this mindset - wanting to scream and lash out at something but having to hold it in - was the mentality that Wolverine is in constantly. He then made cold showers his Wolverine preparation routine for each film featuring the character. Real commitment is what I call it.

  • Hugh Jackman recommended his Kate & Leopold (2001) co-star Liev Schreiber for the role of Sabretooth, describing him as having the necessary competitive streak to portray Sabretooth. During filming, they dared each other to perform more and more of their own stunts. A classic example of his loyalty towards his friends.

  • Hugh Jackman said that for his shirtless scenes in the movie Wolverine(2013), he wanted to look "as ripped and cut as possible". So he adopted a dehydration diet  where he did not consume any liquid for 36 hours before filming his shirtless shots. He said it made him feel "headachy" and faint but he was pleased with the results as dehydrating tightens everything up and gave him the exaggerated muscle definition and vascularity that he wanted to show in his shirtless scenes. This is not something any dietician or trainer would recommend but Hugh did it anyway, all for the good of the movie and much to the elation of his fangirls.

  • He is terribly near-sighted and has extremely blurry vision when he isn't wearing contacts, so much that he can’t even read the menu without them. so, despite of all his charm and hunkiness, he is just a sweet hipster. Needless to say, he can totally rock glasses.

  • Doesn't smoke in real life. He says he finds it horrible to smoke in movies.A non-smoker, why wouldn’t you love him?

  • Hugh credits his good friend Russell Crowe with catapulting his career into super stardom. After Crowe turned down the lead in X-Men (2000), he personally recommended Jackman to director Bryan Singer for the part. He continues to be a good friend of Crowe and never lets his stardom get to his head.

The crux of the matter being that he is-
  1. A great friend,
  2. A humble human being who uses his fortune to run several charities,
  3. A loyal husband despite of the numerous girls that would be more than willing to get their hands on him
  4. An amazing father who cares for his children and never mentions them as being adopted
  5. Works hard for the success of his movies
  6. Believes in and practices humility
  7. A talented musician and singer
  8. Gave us a marvelous view of his glorious physique in X Men Origins: Wolverine and in X Men: Days of Future Past (in all the glory), making us swoon and ogle.

So, go ahead. Join his fandom. Become a fan of the wonderful Marvel that is Hugh Michael Jackman.
